TEDDY

is a very short documentary about a bear who happens to be part of my family. In 2021, TEDDY was selected for 10 film festivals. It screened for fests in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, Oregon, Ohio, Northern Virginia, and London.

TEDDY

TEDDY began as a response to a Sundance Collab filmmaking challenge during the pandemic lockdown. The challenge was to make a film about an inanimate object that had meaning to you. I crafted a doc about this fuzzy family member. As Teddy Roosevelt was a key part of the story, I wanted to include his quote in the film. I reached out to veteran actor and president aficionado Jim Beaver (Supernatural, Deadwood, CRIMSON PEAK, NIGHTMARE ALLEY, etc.) for assistance, and he generously shared his voice.

After the film was completed, with the encouragement of film colleagues I admire, I decided to enter my 3:29 micro short documentary into some festivals as a way to find viewers and more fully participate in the film process. It has been very gratifying to have TEDDY shown online and in person. TEDDY has screened at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, an art space in London and a drive-in theater in Oregon.

One day I hope to see TEDDY find a home in the media offerings of a toy or children’s museum. I am also experimenting with AR to find ways to share him with others while also preserving him from the elements. I would also love the opportunity to work closely with a toy maker to make films about their toys.

NEW PROJECTS

In October of 2021, I won a Sundance Collab monthly challenge with a sci-fi drama script, AFTERMATH. I am currently developing it into a short film, now called THE AFTER. I would like to direct it in latter part of 2023. The concept has great potential to develop into a feature.

I have another short sci-fi drama script called SHOES to produce. I believe it has potential as a short-to-feature effort. I am also exploring ways to produce it in VR.

Visit The Teddy Initiative!

The Teddy Initiative is a new platform I have created where people can share photos and stories about their beloved toys. One day, it will also be a place to raise money to provide toys for children in need of their own special friends.

Re/Start

Here is another short I produced in 2020. It uses existing clips with my story and voice over. The theme is techno-existential.
